Liner Notes: These songs are the background music to my most recent leap forward in life. Some of them hold meaning because of the lyrics; the others hold meaning only because they were playing during the journey. But if you listen close enough to most any song, you can probably find some meaning in the lyrics somewhere.

Life is in a constant state of change. It’s never too late to make a brand new start. Reach for the sky ‘cause tomorrow may never come.

Liner Notes:

“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” -Colin Powell

So I picked the songs first, based on my favorites, then I tried to pick the theme. And I think these are songs with hope to them. Not hope as in wishful thinking, but a gut-deep feeling that they are ready to dig in to get what they need.

John Davis of Superdrag sings, "I’m gonna figure out what’s mine and keep it close to me.” He doesn’t have it figured out yet, but he’ll get there.

In “Ocean Breathes Salty”, Isaac Brock gets on the listener about wasting life, but he’s unwilling to give up on them yet.

And on the final “Huffman Prairie Flying Field”, a place outside of Dayton OH where the Wright Brothers did all of their work, but Kitty Hawk gets credited where flight was discovered, Bob Pollard says even after all of that hard work with GBV, he’s ready to start up and move on.

Or maybe I am just reading too much into things again.
